Safe And Fun For You and Your Dog!

Owning a dog is a privilege. Once someone has experienced the depth of its love or the unconditional devotion and joy it brings to a relationship. They often choose to live the rest of their life with a dog in their home.

You cannot love your dog into respecting you. Love and respect are two unrelated emotions when referring to a relationship with a dog. One of the most important things dog owners must realize is how strong the pack instinct is in the domestic dog. Pack instinct is a genetic instinct that controls every aspect of the dog’s life. The sooner owners learn something about pack behavior, the quicker they will become effective dog owners and will be better to develop a meaningful relationship with their dog.

A dog can never be wrong; it’s either the owner or the trainer. Most of the time the dog goes the wrong way because of bad handling or training. It is very important to get your dog trained to avoid behavior problems, which occur due to dominance. It does not matter whether you do it your self or get a trainer. But remember if you get a trainer make sure he shows you how to handle your dog. Or the training will be of no use and your dog will not be yours, but the trainers.

Training starts at 3 months and not at 6 months as recommended by many doctors and trainers, no two dogs are alike. Like humans every dog has its own individual personality. Dog people like us call a dog’s personality its temperament. Because of these different temperaments no two dogs are trained exactly the same way.

Anyone can slap a leash and prong collar [chock chain with hooks] on a dog and force it to obey commands. Once you have had a little training that’s easy. We like to say that this is the old method of training dogs, when they did not care to study animal behavior.

The fact is that many dog trainers have to use force when they take a dog in for obedience training. Trainers simply don’t take the time to develop a bond with the dogs they train. So for most trainers it comes down to just “money”. And also most owners are in a hurry for good results.

I take time with my dogs and take them through a structured program. This always results in a bond with the dog. There is no hurry in dog training. I prefer to teach the dog that I am good and fair! And prefer to create an atmosphere where the dog enjoys working with me and does not feel it is a punishment.

Works On Any Breed of Dog!
